Bart F. Higgins, Principal/Attorney
After more than two decades of practicing commercial litigation and representing individuals, family-owned businesses and publicly traded Fortune 500 companies, I have learned that each side has a story, but the better story-teller wins.
I dig deeply into the details of my clients’ business to make sure that their story is told.
My broad experience in representing people and companies involved in every aspect of litigation gives me a solid foundation to listen and understand what keeps you up at night.
As your Trusted Advisor, I listen first, assess your goals and risks, and then work with you to develop strategies that fit the legal solutions into your business objectives.
Many of my clients have benefited from SLG’s litigation management model called Corporate Litigation Advisors. Our approach focuses on the development and implementation of strategies that identify critical facts in dispute and generates an action plan to achieve the best results for the client.
My business insight, combined with my extensive legal knowledge, creates a unique blend of expertise.
Before joining Shields Legal Group, I was the Special Assistant to the Attorney General of the U.S. Virgin Islands. I successfully litigated several major cases. During my eleven years of service, the most noteworthy case I handled involved a fraudulent transfer and alter ego claims in connection with the liquidation of oil and gas assets in excess of $15 million.
I was also a Partner at Friedman and Feiger, LLC for two years, and I served as the Shareholder and Founding Partner of Arnett Gaubert, LLP for nine years. I started my career at Cadeax & Taglieri, P.C., where I was an Associate for seven years.
I graduated from the University of Virginia in 1987 and received my JD from George Mason University in 1990. I am a member of the Texas State Bar.
